Yoga Therapy

What is Yoga Therapy?

“Yoga therapy is the professional application of the principles and practices of yoga to promote health and well-being within a therapeutic relationship that includes personalized assessment, goal setting, lifestyle management, and yoga practices for individuals or small groups.”

- The International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT)

The goal of yoga therapy is to promote self-awareness, self-care, and self-healing. It focuses on enhancing the mind-body connection while improving overall strength, flexibility, and balance, reducing stress, managing pain, and supporting emotional well-being. It is not just about physical exercise; it encompasses a holistic approach that assess the individual as a whole. Yoga Therapy helps us consciously delink from habits and patterns that keep us out of balance and helps clients link to healthier patterns and habits to bring them into balance. It can be beneficial for individuals dealing with a variety of conditions such as chronic pain, stress-related disorders, anxiety, depression, insomnia, trauma, and many others. It complements traditional healthcare approaches and can be used alongside other forms of treatment. Through a collaborative process, a certified yoga therapist works closely with the client to develop a personalized treatment plan that integrates various yogic practices.

By combining the wisdom of yoga philosophy, the power of breathwork, mindful movement, and mediation, Yoga Therapy offers a comprehensive approach to promote healing, self-discovery, and overall well-being. It empowers individuals to actively participate in their healing process and cultivates a deeper connection with themselves, fostering a sense of balance, resilience, and inner peace.

What to Expect

In our sessions together, I aim to create a compassionate and non-judgmental environment where you can feel supported and empowered. In the first session, together we will holistically make an initial assessment, address your concerns, discuss goals and consider lifestyle management techniques. Using that information, I will then create a daily practice specifically made for you, which at first could be a simple yoga sequence including postures linked to your breath. In future sessions, other tools of yoga may be incorporated including daily Ayurvedic routines, breathwork, visualization, mediation, mudra, and chanting. These practices are designed to be done daily in order to see improvement in your life and overall well-being.

I firmly believe that healing is a personal journey, and as your Yoga Therapist, my role is to serve as a guide and companion on your unique path. I am here to listen, support, and hold space for you as you navigate your own healing process. My intention is to help you uncover your inner resilience, embrace self-compassion, promote self-awareness, and discover the transformative potential that lies within.

How Much is a Session?

The first session is $148. Every session thereafter is $108 and will be 55 minutes each. These sessions can either be held on Zoom or in person.

How Often are Sessions?

The frequency of Yoga Therapy sessions varies based on each client's unique needs. Sessions can be scheduled weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly, depending on what works best for the individual.

Experience has shown that more frequent sessions, especially during the initial months, lead to greater consistency and progress. However, regardless of session frequency, Yoga Therapy remains effective in helping clients reduce suffering and improve their quality of life.
